As a subgrantee to Winrock International, ACDI/VOCA trained rural women and women entrepreneurs in business skills, empowerment, and community development in Belarus and Ukraine. The WEE project encouraged women to actively participate in public discourse and it helped integrate women in decision-making. In addition, the project provided grants of $20,000 to each of five successful credit unions to support a credit program for women entrepreneurs with a focus on responsible borrowing and credit management.
ACDI/VOCA implemented this project from 1997 – 2002.
