Nicole Chao is the Vice President of the Resilience and Growth Department. She leads a portfolio of projects and new business opportunities in Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to that she provided project management oversight for projects focused on sustainable agriculture, economic opportunities, social inclusion, and community development in Bolivia, Colombia, Iraq, Jamaica, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Paraguay and Uganda. Nicole has also championed new business opportunities with USAID, the United States Department of Agriculture, the World Bank, local governments, and corporate donors and foundations. She is a founding member of Fundación ACDI/VOCA Latin America, based in Bogotá, Colombia. Nicole holds a BA in philosophy, politics, and economics from the University of Pennsylvania and an MA in international development studies from George Washington University. She also holds a certificate from the American Express Leadership Academy at Thunderbird School of Global Management. She is fluent in English and Spanish and has a working knowledge of Portuguese. She received an ACDI/VOCA Presidential Award in 2021.
