Dr. Bidyuth Kumar Mahalderis the chief of party of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food for Progress Bangladesh Climate Smart Livestock Project. He leads a team in enhancing the resilience and productivity of Bangladesh’s livestock sector amid climate challenges. Bidyuth has an extensive background in climate-smart agriculture, food security, nutrition, disaster management, women’s empowerment, and digital finance. Prior to joining ACDI/VOCA in 2023, his career spanned roles with the Bangladeshi government, the Department for International Development, the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center, the United Nations Development Programme, the International Rice Research Institute, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and others across Bangladesh and South Asia. He is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Dhaka (Bangladesh) and a scientific committee member of The International Institute of Knowledge Management (Sri Lanka). Bidyuth holds a BS in agricultural engineering and a master’s degree in irrigation and water management from Bangladesh Agricultural University. He also holds a master’s degree in geographic information systems from the University of Twente (the Netherlands), an MBA from the University of Dhaka (Bangladesh), and a PhD from Khulna University (Bangladesh). His work has been featured in global conferences and in more than 25 scientific publications. He is proficient in Bangla and English.
