Press Release

Washington, DC, October 2, 2024 – ACDI/VOCA was named the #1 nonprofit workplace in the USA for organizations with 150-499 employees by Top Workplaces USA, topping the list of 83 midsized nonprofit companies recognized this year.  The Top Workplaces USA award is granted based entirely on feedback from an employee engagement survey completed by the employees of participating workplaces and “celebrates nationally recognized companies that make the world a better place to work by prioritizing a people-centered culture and giving employees a voice.”

The accomplishment is especially significant because this was ACDI/VOCA’s first time participating in the program, and it is the only international NGO to make the list. Most of the nonprofit employers listed in the top 10 for the category have been on the list since the award’s inception in 2021. These include notable organizations such as Susan G. Komen Foundation, AAA Inc., AARP, Goodwill Industries, The Humane Society, and the YMCA.

ACDI/VOCA earned eligibility for the national award after achieving regional recognition by making the Washington Post’s list of Top Workplaces 2024 earlier this year, ranking seventh out of the 100 organizations named to the list in the midsize category, a list that also included for-profit companies. CEO Sylvia Megret received the Leadership Award for midsize companies in the region.

Megret announced the award during the organization’s most recent quarterly staff meeting.  “This award belongs to all of you,” she said during her opening remarks. “Even though this is a U.S.-based award, all of us are an integral part of our culture. All of us live our values in pursuit of our mission every day. Everyone on staff contributes their energy and demonstrates their dedication to our mission through their daily actions. Every staff member plays a pivotal role, regardless of where they sit, which means credit for this award belongs to us all.”
