Expanded credit for rural Russian farmers

First private rural credit system serves farmers in Russia. We helped create a network of member-owned financial institutions and improve the legal and regulatory environment. Our work demonstrated that lending to farmers and rural entrepreneurs can be profitable, and that such clients repay loans at market interest rates. It was called “one of the most successful programs in the mission’s portfolio” by USAID/Moscow.
