Philippines – Philippines-Australia Women’s Health Training Project (WHTP)
Working to Strengthen the Health Sector in the Philippines
The Philippines-Australia Women’s Health Training Project (WHTP) funded a number of short-term interventions by an ACDI/VOCA specialist in women’s health care in 1998 and 1989. They included surveys of Kalinga, Apayao, Benguet, Palawan, Negros Occidental and North Cotabato provinces, as well as the design and delivery of university-level courses in rural provinces of the Philippines, including post-graduate training for medical technologists and pathologists in women’s health. These courses were implemented in partnership with the University of Santo Tomas, the Davao Medical School Foundation and the Philippines Society of Pathologists.
